Dustin Martin scores as many goals off the field as he does on the field.
At the age of 29, the Richmond champ amassed a $ 14 million real estate empire in the span of a few years.
The Herald Sun revealed on Monday, Martin and his gambling agent Ralph Carr quietly bought properties in the trendy suburbs of Richmond and Abbortsford, just outside of Melbourne’s CBD.
The $ 14 million real estate craze is just the known purchases he’s made in recent years – and it could be a lot more.
The report reveals that Martin and Carr have made five real estate purchases since they first combined to buy a Richmond warehouse for $ 2.2 million in 2016.
The real estate is one of three properties the couple bought on the same Richmond Street near North Richmond train station.
Martin didn’t make any of the purchases personally – and all of them went through companies where he is listed as a director.
Properties valued at $ 14 million include:
– A Butler Street warehouse in Richmond for $ 2.2 million (2016)
– A second warehouse in Butler Street Richmond for $ 2.9 (2018)
– A third Richmond property on Butler Street for $ 1.3 million (2020)
– A property on Victoria Street in Abbotsford for $ 4.8 million (2020); and
– A second property on Victoria Street in Abbotsford for $ 3M (2019)
The judicious real estate investments set Martin up for a very profitable lifestyle at the end of his football career.
He has several years to go on his seven-year, $ 9 million contract with the Tigers and was ranked the 4th highest-paid player in the AFL last year.
According to the Herald Sun’s AFL Rich 100, Martin had a salary of around $ 850,000 – after suffering a pay cut of around $ 300,000 as part of AFL’s pay cuts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic .
He is one of Australia’s most marketable figures, having ambassadorial deals with giants like Nike and Bonds.
He is also said to have made around $ 100,000 for simply signing autographs after his exploits in the Tigers’ Premier League victory in 2020.
